CAMBRIDGE, Mass.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–The 2011 Emtech MIT conference brought more than 550 conference-goers together to attend the annual technology event focused on identifying and defining high-growth technology sectors. Taking place October 18-19, 2011, Emtech MIT featured a host of speakers from large and small companies, including: 1366 Technologies; Bluefin Labs; Continuum; DreamWorks Animation; Ford; GE Ecomagination; IBM; Ion Torrent; PrimeSense; Sakti3; Qualcomm; and Verizon.

“This year’s event demonstrated the power of technology to revolutionize all aspects of our lives”

For the first time, the Emtech MIT agenda included presentations on two concurrent stages, highlighting the enormous pace of innovation in today’s technology market. With an expanded line-up of speakers, the conference was able to cover both the theoretical and the practical, offering trend discussions as well as technology demos. The event also boasted record virtual participation with more than 3,500 unique viewers accessing conference content live on the event website.

Speakers addressed a range of topics, including 3-D technologies, green tech and clean tech, cloud security, and digital business. Discussions centered around the role of the Internet in transforming society, the latest developments in the smart grid and renewable energy, and the effect of mobile technologies on the delivery of health care.

“This year’s event demonstrated the power of technology to revolutionize all aspects of our lives,” said Jason Pontin, editor in chief and publisher of Technology Review. “Our attendees were able to interact with thought leaders from large public companies, small start-ups, and innovative organizations that are driving change in business, healthcare, entertainment, energy and enterprise markets. Emtech continues to be the premier venue for showcasing emerging technologies and for learning about the innovations that will change our world.”

Emtech also honors Technology Reviews annual list of 35 outstanding men and women under the age of 35 who demonstrate the spirit of innovation in business and technology – the TR 35. This year’s winners presented their work through onstage pitch sessions, at an awards ceremony on October 18 and took part in Q&A sessions with attendees during the conference.
